There was a report of a possible student with a gun at New Westminster Senior Secondary Friday, March 2nd at 2:37 P.M. Two students reported that another male, possibly a student, tried to sell them a gun. The students initially falsely reported that they observed the male with a gun in his jacket just as the male entered the school.
All available police units attended the school to set up a perimeter. Police confirmed that no threats were made and a firearm was not seen by either youth. The school was not locked down based on the information provided. The students and staff were instructed to leave the school upon the end of day bell which occurred without incident. The Emergency Response Team then conducted a search of the school to confirm that it was clear of any threats. The male suspect was located by police and the investigation is continuing.
