New Westminster Police Apprehend Robbery Suspect

On January 27th, 2012 at 1:51 pm several New Westminster Police members were dispatched to a report of a hold up alarm, coming from the BMO Bank of Montreal, located at 120-66 10th Street, in New Westminster, BC. Cst. JORDAN attended the bank and then broadcast to surrounding police officers the description of the suspect. Cst. JORDAN was advised that the suspect had produced a note, threatened to have a gun and demanded cash. Shortly thereafter, Cst. CUNNING located a male, identified as Eldon PETERS, who matched the robbery suspect’s description. PETERS was detained and a search located money, later confirmed to be from the Bank of Montreal. PETERS was subsequently arrested for Robbery.

It is believed PETERS is responsible for 2 recent bank robberies in Burnaby as well as 5 other recent robberies in Edmonton, Alberta. The Burnaby RCMP has taken control of the overall investigation.
