During the evening of Wednesday November 30th and into the early morning hours of December 1st, New Westminster Police officers located and arrested several impaired and disqualified drivers.
Four motorists were arrested, the first violator was caught at 7:11 P.M and the last was at 4:07 A.M. The drivers were located and arrested on the 1000 Block of Columbia Street, 900 Block of 6th Avenue, 300 Block of McBride Boulevard and, the 700 Block of 12th Street. The accused range in age from Twenty-One to Forty-Four years old. Two reside in Surrey, one from Vancouver and one from New Westminster.
Although New Westminster police Counter Attack Roadblocks were deployed yesterday, it was patrol officers that located, identified and arrested the motorists. Winter Counter Attack Roadblocks are up and running. Enhanced roadblocks will rotate through locations and days during December and January. Regardless, regular police patrols are clearly a powerful tool in combating impaired driving as evident from last night’s arrests.
It’s all about road safety for motorists and pedestrians. If you are going to drink, don’t drive. Take a cab, use transit, call a friend or relative; have a plan before you go out.
