On Friday November 11th at approximately 1550 Hours, New Westminster police officers responded to a report of a robbery at a business located in the Seven-Hundred Block of Columbia Street. A suspect description was broadcast as patrol units attended the area.
Acting Sergeant Smith observed a male matching the suspect description running towards Eight Street. Acting Sergeant Smith drove towards the suspect male’s location; the male then ran up the escalator at the Eight Street SkyTrain station. Smith pursued on foot and caught up to the male, arresting him without incident.
It was soon discovered that the suspect was also involved in a separate robbery minutes earlier at a business in the Seven-Hundred Block of Carnarvon Street. The accused allegedly made threats towards the robbery victims however no one was injured.
Arrested for robbery is a Twenty-Eight year old male resident of New Westminster. Police are recommending charges of robbery x 2.
