On Monday September 12th at 2131 Hours, the New Westminster Police received numerous 9-1-1 calls regarding a vehicle driving on the Quay Boardwalk. Police officers immediately attended the area and located the suspect vehicle, a grey Audi, as it exited the Boardwalk onto the roadway.
Patrol officers activated their vehicles emergency equipment and the suspect vehicle came to a stop without incident. Officers arrested the male for impaired driving and transported him to police headquarters.
The accused, a Twenty-Nine year old male resident of Vancouver, was released on documentation to appear in court. Police are recommending charges of impaired driving, operating a vehicle while impaired and, are continuing the investigation on dangerous operation of a vehicle.
The 2000 Audi was seized at the scene and is subject to a 30 day impoundment. Although numerous pedestrians were on the Boardwalk at the time of the offence, no one was injured.
