Emergency 9-1-1

Suspicious Male

On Sunday January 9th at approximately 1300 Hours, four boys, 10 to 11 years of age, were playing on the back field of Lord Tweedsmuir School when a suspicious male approached them. The male, described as Caucasian, Fifty to Sixty years of age, slim build, white hair, a white mustache, wearing a grey suit jacket, white shirt and khaki pants; engaged in a conversation with the youths.

The suspect advised the boys that his keys were locked in his vehicle, a small grey pickup truck with a grey canopy, and offered the boys a dollar if one of them would climb through the trucks rear sliding window and retrieve his keys. The boys took the correct action by refusing to interact with the male and they went home to advise their parents of the incident.

The New Westminster police were contacted and attended the area to check for the male and the vehicle neither of which were at the scene. Although the boys did not obtain a vehicle license plate number, they did note that the small grey pickup was unwashed and fairly dirty.
Police officers conducted enquiries in the neighborhood and notified the New Westminster police School Liaison officer of the incident. The investigation continues.
