Male Arrested For Robbery

On Monday, September 20th at 5:50 P.M. New Westminster Police received a 9-1-1 call from a female advising that an unknown male had just minute’s earlier demanded money from her while brandishing a knife. This incident occurred in the Six-Hundred Block of Victoria Street. The suspect was described as a Caucasian male, early twenties, stocky build, blue eyes, wearing a grey hooded sweat top.

Officers attended the scene to gather details and broadcast suspect descriptors to other patrol officers. Within minutes, police received another 9-1-1 call from a female whom was accosted for money by a suspect matching the same description. In this case the male was also holding a knife in his hand while demanding money. This incident occurred in the Six-Hundred Block of Agnes Street.

In both incidents, the victims refused to give the suspect money and, in both cases the suspect fled without further interaction with the victim’s. Fortunately, one of the witnesses observed the suspect enter an apartment building in the Six-Hundred Block of Agnes Street.
Patrol officers were able to quickly gain access to the apartment building and ascertain which suite the suspect was located in. The suspect was located and arrested. The suspect was cooperative with police and was transported to police headquarters.

Police officers executed a search warrant at the residence wherein a number of articles were seized. The accused, a Twenty-Two year old New Westminster resident, was held for court. Police are recommending charges of Robbery.
