‘Con Air’ Returns Male To Ontario To Face Charges

On August 25, 2010, a member of the New Westminster Police Service Operational Support Unit encountered a male in the 800 block of Carnarvon Street and found that he was wanted on multiple warrants for serious offences in Stratford, Ontario. The offences were: sexual assault, aggravated assault, forcible confinement, fail to appear and mischief. None of the warrants had been extended past the province of Ontario.
The New Westminster Police Service Criminal Intelligence Unit was contacted and an investigation was started under the “Con Air” program. On September 3, 2010, 40 year-old Steven Allan MURRAY was arrested without incident by NWPS members. MURRAY was brought before the British Columbia Courts and remanded into custody. On September 9, 2010, MURRAY was escorted back to Ontario. MURRAY was turned over to Stratford officials upon his arrival at the airport.
This is the 7th person that has been escorted out of British Columbia by the New Westminster Police Service on the “Con Air” program since its inception in 2008.
