Male Assaulted – Accused Arrested

On Tuesday September 7th at 1300 Hours, New Westminster police officers were dispatched to the Six-Hundred Block of Princess Street on report of an assault that had just occurred.

At scene, police located the Fifty-Six year old male victim and witnesses to the assault. Reports indicate that the victim had parked his commercial vehicle in a loading zone that the accused had also wanted to park his commercial vehicle in.

Without provocation, the accused became enraged and punched and kicked the victim before driving away from the area. One of the witnesses had managed to take a photograph of the accused assaulting the victim. While details were being obtained the accused and his vehicle were observed parked at the end of the street.

Patrol officer Corazza attended the location and arrested the accused. The accused was transported to police headquarters. The accused profanely advised Constable Corazza that upon his release he intended to physically harm the victim and police officers.

The accused, a Twenty-Eight year old Vancouver resident was held in custody awaiting transportation to Provincial court. Police are recommending charges of assault and threatening.
The victim declined transportation to hospital for examination.
