Debit Card Fraud

The New Westminster Police are now investigating two separate Debit Card Frauds involving a debit card skimmer. In each instance a victim was contacted, either in person or by phone and solicited to donate to the Cancer Society of BC. In both instances a female suspect attended their residence and swiped the victims debit card with a portable debit machine. The victims later determined that their debit cards had been used in fraudulent transactions.
The female suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian female
  • Olive skin
  • 20-25 years of age
  • Approximately 6’0″ tall, slim build
  • Long brown curly hair
  • Brown eyes
  • Wearing a short skirt and high heels
  • Carrying a clipboard and portable debit machine.

New Westminster Police recommend to persons who wish to donate to a charity to ask questions, and don’t give a donation until you’re satisfied with the answers. Charities with nothing to hide will encourage your interest. If necessary ask the person to return after you have confirmed with the office of the charity that there is indeed a campaign going on and that they have authorized the charity drive that you’re being invited to contribute to.
