On April Sixteenth at 0015 Hours, a Twenty-year old female had exited a train at the Twenty-Second Street Sky Train station when she was approached by a young female near the bus loop.
The female suspect engaged the victim in a brief conversation before demanding the victim hand over her purse and cell phone. The victim refused, the suspect then grabbed the victims cell phone. Suddenly, another young female came running up behind the victim and assisted the other suspect in a struggle for the victim’s purse and cell phone.
The two suspects managed to knock the victim to the ground and fled with the victim’s purse and contents. The victim then called out to bystanders to call for police.
At 0025 Hours, patrol officers attended the area. Two covering officers located two females in the Two- Thousand Block of Eight Avenue matching the suspect descriptions. One of the females was carrying the victim’s purse and cell phone. Both females were arrested and detained for the robbery investigation.
Both accused are young offenders and were eventually turned over to their guardians. Police are recommending charges of Robbery against the accused.
The victim is a resident of Burnaby and, both accused are Seventeen-years of age, one a resident of New Westminster, one a resident of Burnaby.
