At approximately 0230 hours on 11 July members of the New Westminster Police were conducting a Counterattack roadblock in the 300 block McBride Blvd. Members spoke to a driver who suddenly fled from police in his vehicle.
Members successfully spike belted the suspect vehicle before it left New Westminster towards Surrey across the Pattullo Bridge. The suspect vehicle and driver continued on rims into Surrey being followed by the police helicopter which prevented this incident becoming a dangerous pursuit.
The driver abandoned his vehicle in Surrey and attempted to hide in a residential backyard. He was apprehended moments later with the assistance of a canine unit and the helicopter crew. A 33 year old Vancouver resident now faces a number of criminal charges for breaching court orders.
