Driver Pleads Guilty To Charges

Preetinderjit GILL, a 28 year old residence of Surrey, has pled guilty to Assault with a Weapon on two police officers, dangerous driving and possession of stolen property after an incident that occurred on January 12, 2009 at the McDonald’s restaurant located at 815 McBride Blvd, New Westminster. Preetinderjit GILL was driving a stolen vehicle through the drive through lane when police attempted to check the vehicle. In an effort to escape, GILL then rammed his vehicle into the police vehicles and at one point drove the vehicle at a high rate of speed directly towards the two police officers on scene. The officers quickly reacted to the threat and shots were fired into the vehicle in an attempt to stop it from hitting them. One female passenger suffered only minor injuries. Aarondeep GILL, who was another passenger in the vehicle, has been charged with the same offences and currently remains in custody.
