Public Information – Suspicious Male

New Westminster – On March 10th, the New Westminster Police Department informed the public of a suspicious male who had approached a young female shortly after 3:00 pm on March 8th. The man was driving an older model red panel van when he approached a young girl who was walking in the 200 block of 3rd Avenue. The man opened the door and asked her to get in, but she refused and ran from the area.

Since the information was released, a composite drawing of the suspicious man was done. The NWPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

The NWPD Major Crime Unit continues to aggressively investigate this incident, and are requesting any witnesses or anyone who may recognize him to call. He is described as a Caucasian male in his 50s or 60s, with grey hair, grey beard, wearing a straw cowboy hat.

“We are continuing to investigate this as a priority and are asking for the public’s assistance to identify the man seen in the sketch,” stated Media Relations Officer Acting Sergeant Jeff Scott. “We continue to work closely with our community partners to ensure everyone’s safety as we seek to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.”
