NWPD investigate two sexual offences

New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Department Major Crime Unit is actively investigating two sexual offences that occurred in the evening hours of March 17th. At about 5:30pm an unidentified man approached an adult woman standing at a bus stop on Howes Street. The man walked up behind her and pulled her pants down.

Thirty minutes later at about 6:00pm in the same area, a man with a similar description approached a different woman who was in her vehicle. This time, the male pulled his own pants down and exposed himself before she drove away.

The suspect is described as a stocky 5’8” Caucasian male in his mid to late 20s with a goatee and dirty blonde hair. In the first incident he was described as wearing a black baseball hat with a white soccer jersey and jeans. The second incident, he was said to be wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.

“We take these reports very seriously, but thankfully they are rare for us in New Westminster,” stated Media Relations Officer Acting Sergeant Jeff Scott. “We have increased our uniform patrols in the area, and our Major Crime Unit is canvassing for any witnesses or video surveillance to identify the suspect.”

Anyone who has any information about the suspect is asked to call NWPD at 604-525-5411.
