New Westminster – New Westminster Police Department are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Moody Park yesterday. The incident occurred at approximately 4:00pm on June 21 near the northeast Moody Park baseball diamond.
The 27 year old victim was punched and kicked multiple times by two young men and hit on the head with a weapon. This appears to be a targeted assault, and the suspects may be known to the victim. The public is not at an increased risk.
“The victim was transported to the hospital and received stitches for his head wound,” stated Sergeant Jeff Scott, “At the time of the assault the surrounding area would have been busy with motorists and park goers and we’re appealing for anyone that can assist with the police investigation to come forward.”
