Student Police Academy returns July 8-12, 2024 – APPLY TODAY!
The New Westminster Police Department is looking for students aged 16-18 who have a desire to learn about a career in policing. The Student Police Academy is a week-long program designed to provide students with an unforgettable and educational experience in law enforcement. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities, learn from experienced professionals, and develop valuable skills that extend beyond the classroom. This program is ideal for students who are looking to expand their knowledge and get a behind the scenes look at all aspects of policing. From physical conditioning and self-defense tactics, to scenario-based simulations and firearm safety, you will receive the most up to date police training.

When: July 8-12, 2024, 8am-4pm
Application deadline: The deadline has been extended to April 14th 2024.
Where: NWPD and associated training facilities.
Cost: $150 (plus applicable fees), due upon acceptance to the program.
Eligibility requirements:
- You are a student in grade 10, 11, 12, or have just graduated high school in 2024;
- AND are between the ages of 16-18;
- You are a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident;
- You have a desire to learn about a career in policing;
- You want to expand your knowledge around law enforcement ;
- You are motivated, compassionate and empathetic with a genuine desire to help others;
- You are committed to attending the program for the entire week; and,
- You support and promote a diverse, inclusive, and healthy environment.
