Youth and adult arrested at New Westminster Secondary School

New Westminster – On May 17th at approximately 11:20 am, the New Westminster Police Department received a call for service from New Westminster Secondary School staff. Officers rushed to the school and located a youth who had been assaulted with a weapon. The victim did not require the services of BC Emergency Health Services Paramedics. After speaking with that youth and witnesses, officers located and arrested one adult and one youth.

“Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the assault to please reach out to investigators about what they saw,” stated Sergeant Andrew Leaver. “Photos and videos of what took place would be helpful for investigators.”

The police investigation into this incident is ongoing and police are working with school administration and witnesses. If you have information related to this incident, you’re asked to call 604-525-5411 and reference file 24-7937. If students or staff ever fear for their safety, they are asked to call 9-1-1.
