*UPDATE* Excellent news! A big thanks to a couple alert citizens who saw Mr. Gillies and called us. Mr. Gillies is safe with his family receiving the medical care he needs.
New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating Port Coquitlam resident, Roderick Gillies who was last seen at Royal Columbian Hospital.
Mr. Gillies was last seen at approximately 10:00 pm on September 2nd where he was receiving treatment as a result of a medical procedure. Mr. Gillies was present with his brother when he walked away from the hospital grounds.
Mr. Gillies is described as a Caucasian male, 59 years old, 6’5” tall with a slim build, shaved head with a goatee, wearing a “We are all Canucks” t-shirt with blue pajama pants with printed snowmen, and black hiking shoes. Mr. Gillies left the hospital without any of his personal belongings. The “We are all Canucks” t-shirt is shown in the image below.
“We are concerned for Mr. Gillies because this is out of character and we are told that he is in need of medication and has mental health concerns,” stated Sergeant Sanjay Kumar. “Mr. Gillies may appear in distress. He has friends and family who are very concerned for his safety, and are assisting us in the search. We are asking for the public’s assistance in locating Mr. Gillies so that we can ensure his well-being.”
