NWPD Remind Public of Drug Risk

New Westminster – The New Westminster Police Department is reminding the public of the risk of street level drugs. Substances sold on the streets can be potent opioids, which can lead to an overdose or death.

The New Westminster Police is reminding anyone who does use recreational drugs to do so in the presence of other people and to call 911 immediately should you experience negative effects.

“While we do not condone illegal drug use, we strongly encourage any drug user who does not feel well to seek medical attention immediately. You will not get in trouble with us when you are in medical distress – our highest priority is the preservation of life,” stated Sergeant Jeff Scott. “There are potent opioids that are sold on the streets, which can be lethal. Call 911 immediately if you need medical assistance.”

New Westminster Police officers are equipped with naloxone kits to assist anyone experiencing the effects of an overdose.
