New Westminster – Yesterday the Provincial Civil Forfeiture office announced a $5 million investment to take further action on the Missing Women Commission of Inquiry recommendations. The New Westminster Police had made a grant request under this initiative and were very pleased the application was accepted.
The NWPD Domestic Violence Response Team’s grant of over $7000 will be used to purchase a Universal Forensic Extraction Device. This device enhances the ability of the police to process cellular phone information required to investigate domestic violence cases in a more timely and forensically sound manner.
“We are very appreciative that our grant was accepted,” said Chief Constable Dave Jones “This device will greatly assist us in our ongoing efforts to protect all victims of domestic violence, and reduce violence against women and children”.
