The sworn police member referred to in the media release from March 7, 2013 has submitted his resignation from the New Westminster Police Department; his resignation has been accepted by Chief Constable Dave Jones. No special buy out or severance package was offered or paid to this member by the NWPD.
Under the Police Act, the NWPD will be required to complete the investigation and impose a penalty if one is warranted. While this penalty will not be enforceable on the member as he has resigned, it would take effect should he seek or obtain employment with another police department.
