The New Westminster Police arrested and charged Raymond Michael Scott (25 years-old) of Surrey with Robbery.
On April 18, 2008 at 3:00PM, SCOTT robbed the CIBC branch at 6th Avenue and 6th Street in New Westminster. SCOTT left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. While the New Westminster Police Detectives were interviewing bank employees and witnesses, they received a report from the Burnaby RCMP that another financial institution robbery had just occurred with the same matching description of the suspect. An intelligence based investigation led to surveillance being set up on SCOTT’s residence in the 13100 bk. of 100 Avenue, Surrey. At 7:00PM, SCOTT was spotted by detectives and was arrested without incident. SCOTT was remanded in custody over the weekend and appeared in New Westminster Provincial Court this morning. The investigation continues as to other robberies where SCOTT might be the suspect. CONTACT PERSON: Sergeant Ivan Chu Media Relations Officer Phone: 604-525-5411 |
