The New Westminster Police Service is investigating a break enter and theft of a local business in the 400 block of Canfor Ave., where the thieves stole a single stainless steel mesh drum valued at $12,000. The drum weights approximately 300 lbs and is 3 feet in diameter. It is believed that sometime overnight, the suspects hooked a chain to the gate entry and pulled it free with a vehicle to gain entry into the secure compound. Police believe this item is destined for a metal recycler since it is a very specialized item. Photographs of a similar item are attached to this email.
