Last evening a New Westminster Police Officer while on routine Patrol in the 10th street area, notices damage to the glass doors of a commercial building. Upon investigating the officer discovers that he has interrupted a break and enter in progress and that a male is still inside the building. The male attempted to escape to a waiting vehicle but after a brief foot pursuit this male was arrested. Other officers arrived on scene and arrested a second male waiting in vehicle with stolen property from the business. Both suspects are known to police and are held in custody for appearance in court. |

On Friday December 2nd at 2111 Hours, the New Westminster Police attended Royal Columbian Hospital on report of an assault against a female patient by a male. The suspect was being detained by hospital staff when police arrived. The accused; Aaron Edward ABERNATHY: DOB 1981-December-23, a resident of North Vancouver, is alleged to have touched an adult female in a sexual manner. The accused was transported to police cells and held to appear in court. Police are recommending charges of sexual assault. The victim was not injured in the assault. The file is subject to a publication ban, no further information will be released at this time. |

On Monday December 5th at 2010 Hours, members of the New Westminster police attended a residence located in the Five Hundred Block of Tenth Street on report of a break and enter in progress. At scene, officers located the suspect in the victim’s suite. The accused, a Thirty Eight year old New Westminster resident, was arrested at the scene without incident. The accused was held in police cells awaiting court. Police are recommending charges of Break and Enter and, Assault. |

During the evening of Wednesday November 30th and into the early morning hours of December 1st, New Westminster Police officers located and arrested several impaired and disqualified drivers. Four motorists were arrested, the first violator was caught at 7:11 P.M and the last was at 4:07 A.M. The drivers were located and arrested on the 1000 Block of Columbia Street, 900 Block of 6th Avenue, 300 Block of McBride Boulevard and, the 700 Block of 12th Street. The accused range in age from Twenty-One to Forty-Four years old. Two reside in Surrey, one from Vancouver and one from New Westminster. It’s all about road safety for motorists and pedestrians. If you are going to drink, don’t drive. Take a cab, use transit, call a friend or relative; have a plan before you go out. |
