Two Charged in Cell Phone Store Robbery

New Westminster – On June 20th, 2015 at approximately 5:40pm, a lone male suspect entered the Wind Mobile Store in the 900 block of 12th Street and displayed what appeared to be the handle of a handgun to the store employee.  The male demanded the store safe be opened however he was not interested in money but wanted the cellular phones inside the safe.

Once the male, who was later found to have an accomplice watching out for him during the robbery was able to empty the safe he departed the store and the two suspects fled in a nearby vehicle.

The NWPD Major Crime Unit assumed conduct of the investigation and with the assistance of several units within the NWPD two males have been arrested.

22 year old, Tyler Tonino Ciampelletti of Delta has been charged with the following criminal offences:

  1. One count of Robbery – Section 344 of the Criminal Code;
  2. One count of Use an imitation firearm while committing or attempting to commit an indictable offence – Section 85(2) of the Criminal Code.

32 year old, Landon Richard Savard of Burnaby has been charged with the following criminal offences:

  1. One count of Robbery – Section 344 of the Criminal Code;
  2. One count of Use an imitation firearm while committing or attempting to commit an indictable offence – Section 85(2) of the Criminal Code.

Mr. Ciampelletti has been released from custody and is currently bound by several court imposed conditions while Mr. Savard remains in custody awaiting his next court appearance on July 6th, 2015.
