NWPD drug project results in several arrests

New Westminster – The NWPD Street Crime Unit wrapped up a recent drug enforcement project with several arrests and search warrants being executed. The project began in early June, with a number of undercover purchases of cocaine from subjects at various locations in New Westminster.

On July 9, 2014 the Street Crime Unit arrested three males and executed two residential search warrants with the assistance of the LMD Emergency Response Team, one in New Westminster and one in south Burnaby.

During the course of this investigation the following has been seized:Seized Exhibits Photo

  • Several ounces of cocaine
  • Large quantity of psilocybin mushrooms
  • Small amount of marijuana
  • Approximately $10,000 in cash
  • One handgun
  • Several replica firearms
  • Pepper Spray
  • Two vehicles seized as offence related property

A number of drug and firearm related charges have now been forwarded to Crown Counsel for approval.

“We are very pleased with the success of this operation,” says Staff-Sergeant Paul Hyland. “We have disrupted a local drug trafficking cell and taken a quantity of drugs and a firearm off the street. Further to that, we shall continue our efforts in this regard by proactively targeting drug dealing and related illegal activity here in the City.”
