New Westminster Community Policing Committee
This committee has been in existence in one form or another since approximately 1981. This committee is made up of representatives from the citys resident associations and the police service. The mandate/vision of this committee is as follows:
This committee focuses on increasing and maintaining the livability of New Westminster as it relates to crime and policing by identifying issues and recommending solutions. This includes crime prevention and other community oriented solutions, driven by the needs and interests of the community as a whole.
As one can see from the above mandate, it is citizens of the community meeting together with the police to not only identify crime and policing issues, but also to be have a part in recommending solutions.
