Echo Twelve Police Unit E-12 (Echo Twelve) is a 1992 Ford Aerostar Van assigned to the Crime Prevention office.
Used primarily to transport members and equipment to various activities organized by the Crime Prevention Officers, it serves as a visible reminder to the community of our committment to reducing crime in our City.

E-8 (Echo-eight) is a 1987 Dodge Van assigned to the Drinking/Driving Counterattack Program. Echo Eight
Sponsored by the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia (ICBC), this highly visible vehicle serves as the focal point of our drinking driving roadblock activities.

Echo Five Our Mobile Emergency Command Post is Police unit E-5 (Echo Five).
With a custom built personnel and equipment cabin on a 1983 International chassis, E-5 provides an "on-the-scene" office for officers in command of or involved in emergency situations.

The vehicle is fully equipped with a Communications Center with multiple channel radio equipment, cellular telephone and fax connections, toilet and cooking facilities, an incident/briefing room and storage space for specialized Emergency Response Team equipment.

A high capacity diesel powered generator permits continued operation over an extended period of time without external electrical connections.

Sometimes referred to by the public as a "ghost car", police unit C-2 (Charlie-Two) is one of our unmarked police vehicles. Charlie Two
A 1998 Ford Crown Victoria with special police equipment, this particular vehicle is assigned to our Traffic Section. It and other unmarked vehicles are used for general patrol duties and in situations where the high visibility of a marked police vehicle is not desirable.

Echo Four E-4 (Echo Four) is a 1995 Ford Explorer specially equipped for the transportation of police dogs and handlers.
One of 4 such vehicles, the 4-wheel drive configuration with its high road clearance makes it an ideal vehicle for our Police Dog Section who are often called upon to perform duties in unusual, off-road locations.

Our 2 oldest dog vehicles, 1993 and 1994 Ford Explorers, are in the process of being replaced by 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe's. One of these new units will be equipped to carry not only a German Shepherd police dog, but also our newest arrival, a Black Labrador trained in drug detection.

Used for ceremonial and community-related activities only, police unit E-9 (Echo Nine) is a 1947 Nash restored to resemble a police vehicle of that era. Echo Nine
Originally owned by Constable Bob Kraiger, the Nash was restored and outfitted by Bob and Constable Norm Buchanan before the Police Service purchased the vehicle several years ago.

Ordered from the factory with special police options by the BC Provincial Police in1946, this vehicle never saw police service until Bob and Norm restored it to its current "operational" condition.

In 1998, Cst. Buchanan and the Nash participated in the Surrey RCMP's "Wheels for Kids" rally across B.C. and Alberta. This effort was successful in raising over $150,000.00 for the Surrey Children's Hospital.

Bravo Five Police unit B-13 (Bravo Thirteen) is one example of our standard, marked patrol vehicles, the Ford Police Interceptor.
