New Westminster – On September 15, 2017 at approximately 8:00pm four youths were walking home down the 700 block of 20th Street in New Westminster. A soccer ball belonging to one of the youth crossed paths with a passing vehicle. The vehicle stopped and a man allegedly got out of the passenger side and chased the youths with a metal baseball bat. One of the youths was struck with the bat and required hospitalization.
“This is a gross overreaction on the part of the motorist,” stated Media Relations Officer Sergeant Jeff Scott, “We want to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident.”
