NWPD Investigate Collision

New Westminster – On December 19th 2016 at approximately 2:05 pm, the New Westminster Police Department responded to the area of 6th Street and 6th Avenue for a report of a vehicle that collided into the side of a bank. There did not appear to be any major damage to the building, however two pedestrians were taken to hospital by BC Ambulance for medical assessment as a precaution.

The driver was also transported to hospital by BC Ambulance, however his injuries are unknown at this time. The NWPD Traffic Unit has taken conduct of the investigation with the assistance of the Forensic Identification Unit.

“We’re still in the very early stages of this investigation, and while we speak with witnesses and obtain any video surveillance, everyone involved in the collision is being assessed medically,” stated Media Relations Officer Acting Sergeant Jeff Scott. “It is too early to say what may have caused this collision, but we’re considering all the possible contributing factors.”
