The New Westminster Volunteer Bicycle Patrol Program, launched in August 2001, is aimed at educating the local public about auto crime activity while acting as a crime deterrent during rides through local neighbourhoods. One of the most important elements of this program is that it serves to alleviate the fear of crime that affects our citizens. During the course of their duties, the volunteers act as ambassadors for the city of New Westminster and the Police, reporting all suspicious, criminal and nuisance behaviour they observe.
Due to this program's popularity and the extensive training, volunteers are chosen for their volunteer experience and long-term commitment. Volunteers interested in this program may apply once six month of service is completed in another crime prevention initiative. This Program is open to all skill level of riders.
