Home Security Unit

Working together WITH the community The New Westminster Police Home Security Unit exists with one focus, to assist local residents with tips and techniques to make their homes safer. While visiting residences, trained volunteers are asked to provide target-hardening tips and educational literature about home security in order to reduce the chance of a Break and Enter. Any New Westminster Resident can call for a free Home Security Audit.

Due to this program's extensive training, volunteers will be chosen for their experience and long-term commitment. When this program has a position available interested volunteers may apply once six months of service is completed in another volunteer program.

Benefits of being part of the home security unit:

  • Extensive training in lock and security measures
  • Dealing with the public as a representative
  • Teaching the public how to better protect their home
  • No minimum commitment as this program is referral based
